2006-2007, So Far...

  • New PDA chapter, Progressive Democrats of NJ Ocean County: this chapter formed recently, and is growing Fast!   It is an alliance with Democracy For America (DFA). Monthly meetings are on 1st Tuesdays at 7pm.  See Contacts page for more.
  • Democratic State Committee (DSC) Progressive Caucus: PDNJ successfully co-hosted the winter and Summer meetings.  The meeting brought together leaders from MANY progressive organzations in NJ.  Our members will continue to support the NJ Progressive Caucus committees and working groups.  Great coallition building! 
  • PDA Morris County member enters Congressional Race: Yes!  Our own Tom Wyka is running for U.S. Congress in the NJ-11th district, against the Replublican inumbent Rodney Freylinghuysen.  See www.TomWyka.com 
  • PDNJ State Leadership gets active!: Hats off to Anne, Bill, and Ed, for their tireless efforts working at the state level to help organize and engergize our PDNJ teams.
  • Morris County & South Jersey chapters lead the way: these 2 Chapters have formed strong alliances with Democracy For America (DFA) to host many events, including house-parties, Anti-War rallies, Movie-Nights, etc.  Way to Go! 
  • PDNJ-Morris hosted 2 BIG Out-of-Iraq Events: PDA activist Dave Cochran organized two big Public Forum event with 5 speakers, 200+ attendees, press coverage, etc.  CLICK HERE for Press Coverage.  (then scroll down)
  • FEBRUARY 2006: New PDA chapter, Progressives of NorthWest NJ: this chapter formed recently, and is growing Fast!   It includes Sussex County, and the surrounding areas. See Contacts page for more.
  • MARCH 2006: New PDA chapter, Progressive Democracy South Jersey (PDSJ): this chapter includes both PDA and DFA members and will be affiliated with both organizations. This is further evidence of the cooperation existing among progressive groups as we work to achieve our common goals.
  • APRIL 2006: New chapter activity in Bergen County: an initial organizing meeting was held in Teaneck. If you did not know of it and want to join in, please email PDNJ@comcast.net for more information.
  • November 2006 elections: in addition to the Menendez Senatorial campaign mentioned above, and Rush Holt's campaign, there are Congressional campaigns underway with progressive candidates in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 11th and 13th in which PDNJ may become involved. If we missed any, please email PDNJ@comcast.net and we’ll add them to our plans. Information will be provided on how and where to get involved.
  • Senator Menendez reaches out: at a meeting in Iselin arranged by Garden State Equality in their offices, Senator Menendez indicated his support of progressive issues and his desire to work with the progressive community. PDNJ will take this opportunity to enlist in his campaign for re-election in November to ensure NJ continues to have the best progressive Senators in the USA.
